Our Facilities

What started out as “the little church in the pines” has grown up along with the neighborhood surrounding it. We are grateful to be located near the beautiful Five Points area and give thanks to God for our building, grounds, and parsonage.
Our facilities are well used, not only on Sunday mornings for worship, but throughout the week. Daytime or evening, we are always bustling with activity. Many of our rooms serve multiple purposes, so be sure to check the location of your class, small group gathering, or meeting when you arrive. A volunteer is stationed at the Reception Desk on Sunday mornings, and from 9:00am – 5:00pm during the week to answer any questions. A haven for nourishment, a hub for outreach.

Hayes Barton United Methodist Church is established to be the Well, offering living water to all.
​
The well for a community is the gathering place where nourishment is found and then that water is taken out into the community to sustain it and empower it to be strong and vibrant. The Well at Hayes Barton is the gathering place for all who come here to drink from “the spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Shaped and nurtured by that living water, we send forth others and even go forth individually into a community in need of the living presence of God. Columbariums
Through the vision and hard work of our faith community, we have three beautiful Columbariums. These serve as visible links to us in this life between deceased Christians and their church community, enabling family and friends to pay respects and refresh remembrances frequently as a part of regular worship.
As you enter the indoor columbarium, the magnificent stained glass window portraying Christ the King is flanked by figures of Saint Peter and Saint Paul with an explosive nimbus above reminding one of Jesus' words, "I am the resurrection and the life." Within the alcoves on either side of the window are niches for interment of ashes of deceased members. Each of the 120 niches will be marked with a cast bronze plate with the name and date of birth of the person whose ashes are inurned.

The Terrace Columbarium, the newest addition of niches for inurnment at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. The Streams of Living Waters sculpture by Jeff Hurr visually fills our senses and calms our spirit. The fountain gently reminds us of the restorative powers of the Spirit and the promise of everlasting life. Located near the playground are the Children’s Columbarium and Butterfly Bench. We are grateful for the generosity of many donors whose gifts have created such a peaceful contemplative corner at Hayes Barton.
